Bath hair

Roman and Hudson LOVE taking baths. Really the only time you can tell how long Hudson's hair really is is when it's sticking straight up. So while they were in the tub I put Hudson's hair in a Mohawk.

So, Roman wanted a Mohawk too. I tried to get a picture of them both looking, but I think this one is funnier with Roman serenading Hudson at the top of his lungs and Hudson's half smile. He is so good at humoring his big brother already.

Valentine's Day

For Valentine's day I got Roman and Hudson each a dog, a book, and a shirt. The boys loved their snugly puppies and I have seen them all over the house. The shirts said "Eligible Bachelor" and I just thought they were too cute! And I gave Hudson a trucks books (which Roman has claimed) and Roman an Animal Stories book.

They were being so cute and sweet with their new puppies.

Roman was even loving on his baby brother.

But by the time we got them dressed, Roman wasn't really feeling the love for Hudson anymore.

For Valentine's day I went on a fun date with these two cute Eligible Bachelors to the zoo. It was in the 60's, not too crowded, and we enjoyed the day with my sister Becky and her girls, Kaylee and Gabby. Hudson spent most of the day cruising in his stroller, but he did get out long enough to lounge on the Elephant's trunk.

Mail!

The Friday before Valentine's day I checked the mail and Roman and Hudson each had an envelope in the mail for them. I gave them each their letters and Hudson was so excited. He waved it, he crinkled it...eventually he let me take the card out of the envelope and read it to him. It was a Valentine from Grandma and Grandpa S.

Who needs toys

Everyone tells us not to get our kids toys, just give them the boxes, they like them better anyway. Hudson doesn't even need a box. One of his favorite places to play right now is in a pile of newspapers. The rattle, they crinkle, they spread all over the place. One Sunday Spencer put Hudson on the floor and before we knew it Hudson had the papers all over the family room. He thought it was better then any toy he has.

On the move!

Being the second child it's hard not to compare to the first. Roman was SO active when he was a baby. He was sitting up and rolling over at 4 months, crawling at 6 months, climbing at 7 months. Hudson was contently laying in one place at 4 months, not even really THINKING about rolling. At 6 months he was just figuring out that he could get things if he rolled over. Now at almost 7 months he is no where NEAR crawling, but he sure can get around. I decided to take pictures every time he really moved then do a little video of them. This was in about 10 minutes. I had to stop sooner then I was planning to because he moved out of range where my camera could see him. Even as I am typing this I just felt a thud against my chair, looked down and a cute boy is staring up at me with the biggest smile. He was in my room laying on the floor so that means he's traveled about 7' or 8' to get over here.

See...he has LOTS of hair

Hudson has lots of hair...you just can't see it unless it's all standing straight up!

Roman was playing in a laundry basket and asked if I could put Hudson in with him. When he wants to play with Hudson I'll let him, as long as he is nice to him. I hate that whenever my kids are playing cute the camear is no where in sight so I snapped this on my phone, but it's only 2 megapixels so it can't keep up with Roman moving.

6 month "Well child" check-up

Monday morning Hudson had his 6 month "well child" check-up. I say "well child" because he wasn't well. Around 2 that morning he woke up congested, by the time he had his appointment at 9 he was a snotty, wheezy mess. The doctor said that she thought it looked/sounded like RSV, and gave us some heads ups what to look for and said "If it is I'll see you in 3 days." Yeah, that always makes a mom feel great!

Well, Hudson has had a pretty miserable week, by Monday afternoon he was running a fever of 103.6 and when I talked to the doctor (I called her pretty worried) she said just one more symptom that made her think RSV. Awesome!

As for the "Well child" part of the visit...checking his growth. Hudson is a string bean!

Height - 27 1/2" (85%)

Weight - 15 lbs 14 oz (20%)

Head - 45 cm (80%) - I think they had his head wrong last time because they said it was in the 20% but the time before was the 75%, he has a big head so I think they just did it wrong last time!

We haven't decided on an official first word yet, he is really good at mimicking sounds, but I am still really trying to get him to say Mom as his first word. Spencer of course is hoping for Dad, Roman is of course hoping for Roman, and Hudson just laughs at all of us as we try to coax one out of him.

Advice from a friend - how to make your day better.

Shortly after I found out Hudson was a boy I was reading one of my friends blogs and she gave the best advice on how to mae your day instantly better. I stole her instructions from her blog because they were so cute (hope you don't mind Beth)

Does life have you down? Do you need a pick me up to help you get through the day?

Just do what I do.
Step 1: Find two adorable baby boys, then go buy them matching shirts.
Step 2: Make them pose for pictures using Nerds to persuade the older baby (make sure you don't brush their hair before, that would be cheesy).
Step 3:Take as many as you can get before their tears start.
Step 4: After you take the pictures post them on the internet for anyone to see.
Step 5: Sit back and admire your creations. Go ahead, pat yourself on the back, you made this happen.

There, don't you feel better now?

Yep, it works. So cute! (although I forgot about the nerds, probably would have extended the 3 year olds attention span.)

Feed me already!

Sunday night I put Hudson in his highchair to play while we were eating dinner. Roman took the stool over by the highchair and was pretending that he had a spoon in his mouth and was going to feed Hudson. So he pretended to get a scoop of his pretend baby food, with his pretend spoon and put it up to Hudson's mouth. Hudson saw his hand coming for his mouth and he opened wide for a big bite.

Every time Roman went in with a pretend bite Hudson opened big for it. After a few pretend bites he was ready for something more substantial for dinner.

Showing a little love

Hudson just adores Roman. Roman has his days. There are days that I think it's a miracle that Hudson has survived Roman's torture. Then there are days that Roman is such a sweet big brother. He will find toys that he can play with Hudson with. He will help with diaper changes. And most of all, he will give sweet hugs and kisses that are genuine. That's when I know he really does love his brother. One night at bedtime Roman convinced me to take pictures of them in their matching pajamas.

Roman loves to be silly in pictures, and he loves to pose. Hudson was just hanging out.

Roman decided to give Hudson a little kiss on the head.

Not sure if Hudson's giving him a kiss back, or trying to eat him. Probably trying to eat him.
And this is my favorite. Look at these cute, happy, sweet brothers!
