Feed me already!

Sunday night I put Hudson in his highchair to play while we were eating dinner. Roman took the stool over by the highchair and was pretending that he had a spoon in his mouth and was going to feed Hudson. So he pretended to get a scoop of his pretend baby food, with his pretend spoon and put it up to Hudson's mouth. Hudson saw his hand coming for his mouth and he opened wide for a big bite.

Every time Roman went in with a pretend bite Hudson opened big for it. After a few pretend bites he was ready for something more substantial for dinner.

Showing a little love

Hudson just adores Roman. Roman has his days. There are days that I think it's a miracle that Hudson has survived Roman's torture. Then there are days that Roman is such a sweet big brother. He will find toys that he can play with Hudson with. He will help with diaper changes. And most of all, he will give sweet hugs and kisses that are genuine. That's when I know he really does love his brother. One night at bedtime Roman convinced me to take pictures of them in their matching pajamas.

Roman loves to be silly in pictures, and he loves to pose. Hudson was just hanging out.

Roman decided to give Hudson a little kiss on the head.

Not sure if Hudson's giving him a kiss back, or trying to eat him. Probably trying to eat him.
And this is my favorite. Look at these cute, happy, sweet brothers!

Diaper Change

One morning shortly after the boys woke up I was sitting in Hudson's room with Roman and Hudson. I put Hudson down on his activity mat so that I could go get a diaper and when Roman asked what I was doing I told him that I needed to change Hudson's diaper. Roman quickly volunteered to do it. I thought it was funny so I said "sure, okay, go for it." I didn't think he would even be able to unfasten Hudson's pajamas let alone get into the diaper. I have learned to never doubt Roman's abilities.

Before I knew it Roman had the pajamas unfastened. Hudson, fearing what was about to happen tried to get away, but he can only roll, and with Roman holding him down to change his diaper, the poor kid didn't have much of a chance.

Once the pajamas were off I thought "no way will he be able to get the diaper off."

He fiddled around with it for a minute until he found the tab.
He had that diaper almost off as I snapped one last picture then took over the diaper change from there.

6 months old

I can't believe how fast Hudson is growing up. On Wednsday he was 6 months old. He is so fun right now. His personality is just starting to show and he is just a sweet cuddly boy.

A few things that he is doing at 6 months

He loves using his voice. He is always gabbering and he likes to mimic sounds that we make.

Just this week he has started really rolling over.

He loves eating. So far he's tried Peas, Green beans and squash. By far he prefers the squash. He also eats rice cereal well. He has started trying to grab anything on our plate if we hold him while we are eating.

The other night he was wearing some pajamas that had doggies on the feet. Before that night he was never really interested in playing with his toes, but he was so intent on getting those dogs. He has been playing with his feet more since that night, but still not really interested in his toes much.

If we help sit him up he can sit on his own, but he can't get to a sitting position on his own yet.

He can't get enough of Roman (as long as Roman is being nice). He thinks Roman is so funny. Roman will dance around and do silly things to make him laugh.

All in all, Hudson is a very laid back baby. He is fine to play on the floor, in his bouncer, carseat (as long as it's not in the car, still dispises being in the car), swing, crib. He will play wherever.

4 month old attitude

This picture has been sitting on my counter for a month and every time I look at it, I smile. Thanksgiving we went to my in laws house and two of Spencer's step-sisters kids have babies that are the same age as Hudson. One is a day older then Hudson the other is about a month younger. Spencer's mom wanted to get a picture of all 3 babies together. Easier said then done. There were actually 2 other pictures, this was the last of the three. By the third picture Hudson was done.

At 4 months old Hudson already had an attitude.

How Mommy gets a shower...part 2

A few months ago I posted about how I get a shower here.

Well, as Hudson is a little older, we've modified our methods. We have a stand alone shower and tub in our bathroom so I found the perfect way to take a shower...we just give him a few toys, lay him on a pillow, and we can see Hudson and make sure he's okay. (The only problem is when he decides to roll over...we've had to start using 2 pillows so that he doesn't roll off the pillow into the tub.)

It works for 3 year olds too.

We're Going to be Friends

There are times that I see a glimpse of the future...the good friends that my boys are going to be. Sure they will have days that they hate each other. I think they already do. But there are times that I see them playing together and I can just tell they are going to be the best friends.

One afternoon Roman wanted someone to play with. Hudson was lying on the floor on a blanket and Roman came over to him and gave him one of his cars. Then he found another car and laid down on the floor next to him so that they could play cars together. Hudson didn't really understand what Roman wanted him to do, mostly he just sucked on the ski rack, but it was nice that he wanted to share. He wanted to play with his brother, and he wanted to show him what you are supposed to do with a car.

A few nights ago as we were kneeling down to say bedtime prayers with Roman we had a case of the sillies. The boys were playing off of each other, one would giggle which would make the other giggle. I couldn't help but smile. Spencer said "You know this is only going to get worse." I hope so! I know giggling during prayer is not something I should encourage, but I remember giggling through so many prayers with my sisters. I remember one person would start to giggle and by the end of the prayer we would all be collapsed on the ground all laughing that deep belly laugh. I love that my boys are starting to find that in each other.

First Christmas

For Christmas I had a hard time deciding what to get Hudson. He's still so young that really he won't remember it, and we have all the clothes that we need from Roman, and so many toys. But we still wanted it to be special, I mean it IS his first Christmas. It took a long time to decide what Santa should bring him too. Finally we decided to get (I mean for Santa to bring him) a mobile for his crib. Roman had a Winnie-the-Pooh mobile that matched his nursery but it's still in storage...somewhere. On Christmas Eve Roman went right to sleep, but Hudson was just too excited to sleep. He stayed up so late that night. He was the first to see the gifts Santa brought (See the presents in front by Hudson's toes...those are from Santa)

This was my favorite present under the tree this year.

Roman helped us unwrap all our presents...he helped unwrap every ones presents. We decided this year that we weren't going to rush through presents...if we wanted to stop and read a book, we would. And we did.

Hudson did unwrap a few of his own presents.

He was more interested in chewing on them anyway. This bead toy from Grandma and Grandpa S was a huge hit. It's still a favorite!

The stockings all stuffed.

Boys and Trucks

My mom wanted new pictures of all of her grand kids together. The last time we had family pictures taken (last December) the photographer got a few pictures of them together, but let's face it getting a picture of a bunch of kids together is HARD, and the photographer was less then thrilled with the idea that my mom wanted one. So we talked to my friend Heidi and she was willing to take some pictures of all 8 of the kids together. She had no idea what she was getting herself into. I think one of our biggest problems was that we had too many adults trying to help get the kids attention. I would hurry and put Hudson into the group before each picture because he did NOT want to sit there. Which was also a distraction. We did get some really cute pictures though. Here are a few of the pictures of the entire group.

My house is definitely a house full of boys. So when we decided to take pictures of the cousins on my side of the family at my house, then individual group pictures of each family I thought it would be cute to put Hudson in Roman's big dump truck. I didn't think he would fall asleep, but that made for some adorable pictures. Just as we were finishing up Hudson woke up and was all smiles. So Heidi couldn't pass up that adorable smile so she snapped a few more pictures, and got the cutest smile from him.

Nativity 2010

A few days before Christmas my mom had this idea. The idea was that she wanted to do a nativity with the grand kids this year. She gave us additional information over the course of that week (the week of Christmas.) She thought we could take pictures of the kids so that we could let the kids watch it. She had a few songs in mind that she wanted to use, and she found a script that she wanted to use as text on the bottom so that we could read it while we were watching. Well, we had one day to take pictures, and I had a few hours to get it all put together in time so that we could watch it together on Christmas Eve. The kids were not the most cooperative when it came to getting pictures. Joseph (aka Roman) was pretty much done after about 2 pictures. He isn't the most patient person when it comes to pictures anyway.

The cast was as follows...

Mary .............. Gabby
Joseph ........... Roman
Baby Jesus .... Hudson/Lizzie
Angel ............. Kaylee
Shepherd ...... Kaylee
Wise men ...... Jaren, Savannah, and Arianna
Innkeepers ... Savannah and Arianna
Sheep dog ..... Falkor

The first song is with the script my mom found telling the story of the nativity.

The second song is "Picture a Christmas" with pictures set to the words of the music.

All in all I think they turned out pretty good. We joked that it was "The Nativity...the comedy." Hopefully next year will go better (and we'll plan further in advance so we can do a better job.)
