I love playing with my brother

Hudson is getting older and more fun to play with. Roman still finds pleasure in making him cry, but he's starting to realize he can be fun to play with too. The other day while we were eating lunch Roman asked who he could play with that afternoon. I asked "What if you play with Hudson?" So after he finished lunch he got out his toolbox and showed Hudson the tools, told him what you do with them, and even let him play with some with him.

That night when I gave the boys a bath they were really having fun together. I LOVE when they (meaning Roman) are being nice to each other and just having fun together.

As I was tucking Roman into bed I told him Hudson is just going to get bigger and more fun to play with. He said "I love playing with my brother."

A day at the park

Hudson played at the park for the first time last week. When we got there I put him in a swing and of course Roman wanted to swing too.

Hudson LOVED being outside. He loved the park, the swings, he loved it all.

He was seriously in HEAVEN. He was smiling and laughing. I LOVE this smile.

Roman was being an awesome big brother and was even willing to go down the slide with Hudson.
Now if only it were REALLY spring so we could do this all the time. I would have 2 very happy boys!

sick of being sick

Hudson made it almost to 2011 without really getting sick, but he's made up for it since then. We rang in the new year with the flu, and since then Hudson has had RSV, a double ear infection, and was finally better for a week. Just one week and he started in with the stuffy nose sick stuff again. So back to the doctor we went and bronchitis and another (or still) ear infection. Poor kid can't catch a break. We are excited for spring and warm weather and hopefully healthy kids.

Dinner time

I've been struggling to make dinner lately. Roman and Hudson both want to be right in the middle of things. They want to be at the counter, by the stove, in the middle of everything. As long as Roman is in the family room with Hudson, he will sometimes be okay about not being in the middle of things. So one night as I was cooking and just couldn't have the boys in there with me I decided to try something...I gave them each a spatula and a bowl and put them in the family room. They could still see me in the kitchen. Roman thought it was great. He was using both bowls. He would mix it up then put it in his "oven" (The storage ottoman) to cook it. Hudson was happy just chewing on his spatula.

Race car driver

Last week we met my friend, Sandy at Valley Fair Mall so that we could visit and our kids could play on the play area. Roman is always asking when we can go there because he LOVES the cars, train, boat, jeep, bus. All things that he can drive. While we were waiting for Sandy to get there I put Hudson in the race car and let him try it out.

Roman never sat in one place long enough for me to get a picture of him, but Hudson was content to just sit in the race car (that is until Roman wanted him out so he could have a turn to drive it too.)

Who needs toys - Part 2

Last week I posted that Hudson doesn't need toys. He plays with newspapers. Well, he has now discovered boxes too. And they were just as entertaining. Proving the point that kids don't need toys, just boxes, wrapping paper, and a little tape and they're happy....so why exactly do we have so many toys?

Argh

One night at bedtime we were all in the boy's bathroom getting Roman ready for bed. Spencer found the pirate eye patch on the floor and decided to try it on Hudson. Hudson didn't seem to mind it.

Bath hair

Roman and Hudson LOVE taking baths. Really the only time you can tell how long Hudson's hair really is is when it's sticking straight up. So while they were in the tub I put Hudson's hair in a Mohawk.

So, Roman wanted a Mohawk too. I tried to get a picture of them both looking, but I think this one is funnier with Roman serenading Hudson at the top of his lungs and Hudson's half smile. He is so good at humoring his big brother already.

Valentine's Day

For Valentine's day I got Roman and Hudson each a dog, a book, and a shirt. The boys loved their snugly puppies and I have seen them all over the house. The shirts said "Eligible Bachelor" and I just thought they were too cute! And I gave Hudson a trucks books (which Roman has claimed) and Roman an Animal Stories book.

They were being so cute and sweet with their new puppies.

Roman was even loving on his baby brother.

But by the time we got them dressed, Roman wasn't really feeling the love for Hudson anymore.

For Valentine's day I went on a fun date with these two cute Eligible Bachelors to the zoo. It was in the 60's, not too crowded, and we enjoyed the day with my sister Becky and her girls, Kaylee and Gabby. Hudson spent most of the day cruising in his stroller, but he did get out long enough to lounge on the Elephant's trunk.
